Türkçenin Yabancı Dil Olarak Öğretiminde Mobil Teknoloji Uygulamalarına İlişkin Öğrenci Görüşleri


The facilitating effect of developments in technology on almost every discipline is also evident in foreign language learning. Nowadays, many people learn foreign languages through various mobile applications that can be used on mobile devices. Although there are many different mobile applications and academic studies on these applications to teach more globalized languages such as English, it is possible to say that there are a limited number of academic studies on mobile applications designed to teach Turkish as a foreign language and the use of these applications. This study aims to determine the opinions of students learning Turkish as a foreign language regarding mobile applications. The study is a phenomenological research, which is qualitative, and the data of the study are from international students studying at Firat University. The data obtained through a semi-structured interview form consisting of ten questions in total is examined using content analysis. In this way, the study examines the mobile applications the students use, why they prefer these applications, what the advantages and disadvantages these applications have, which language skills they use most to improve, their opinions on the use of these applications in the classroom, the features they think these applications should have and their contributions to their success and motivation. As a result, it is possible to say that the participants do not have sufficient knowledge about mobile learning applications and therefore do not use them widely and effectively. In addition, they state that although they do not have sufficient knowledge about mobile applications designed for teaching Turkish as a foreign language, they want to use these applications and thus they can learn Turkish more easily and faster.
